Your Gateway to the Wild West Coast
Port Alberni sits at the heart of one of the world's great marine destinations — the gateway to Barkley Sound, the Broken Group Islands, and the open Pacific. The Alberni Inlet stretches 45 km from Port Alberni to the sea, flanked by mountains, ancient rainforest, and teeming with salmon, halibut, and marine life.
SilverFox Marine Charters was built for adventurers who want more than a day trip. Our signature 5-day eco-voyage takes small groups deep into this extraordinary world aboard the SilverFox — a powerful, comfortable 37-ft live-aboard charter vessel purpose-equipped for extended coastal exploration.
From the working Alberni Canal and the village of Bamfield to the sacred shores of Kiixin and the sandy beaches of the Broken Group, every day on the water reveals something you won't find anywhere else. We fish, we explore, we connect — with the coast, with First Nations culture, and with each other.
Whether you're an avid angler chasing chinook and halibut, a wildlife enthusiast scanning for humpbacks and bald eagles, or simply someone who wants to experience BC's wild coast without compromise, the SilverFox will take you there.

The Broken Group Islands sit at the centre of Barkley Sound on Vancouver Island's rugged west coast — a protected archipelago of over 100 islands and islets within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Surrounded by rich marine habitat, ancient rainforest, and some of the finest paddling and fishing waters on the BC coast, the Broken Group is a destination that most people only ever see on a map. Our 5-day eco-adventure charter puts you right in the middle of it, overnight, with everything you need aboard the SilverFox.

Why Barkley Sound?
Port Alberni is known as the Salmon Capital of the World — and for good reason. The Alberni Inlet funnels massive runs of Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon from the open Pacific toward their spawning grounds, creating some of the most productive sport fishing on the BC coast.
Beyond fishing, Barkley Sound is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve region of staggering biodiversity. Humpback and grey whales, Steller sea lions, Pacific white-sided dolphins, and countless seabird species share these waters. The sheltered waters of the Broken Group Islands — part of Pacific Rim National Park — are a paddler's and explorer's dream, accessible by boat.
On land and along the shore, the Huu-ay-aht and other Nuu-chah-nulth peoples have lived in harmony with these waters for millennia. Their culture and history are woven into every bay and headland — and SilverFox is proud to offer access to the remarkable Kiixin cultural experience in partnership with the Huu-ay-aht First Nation.
This is not just a fishing destination. It is one of Canada's most extraordinary wild places — and the SilverFox will take you there.
Eat. Sleep. Fish. Relax.
